Green Hydrogen & LNG Logistics

India’s green hydrogen story formally kickstarted with the announcement of the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) in January 2023 with the grand objective of making India the global hub for producing, consuming and exporting green hydrogen and its derivatives. With a Target to produce 5 million metric tonnes per annum (mmtpa) of green hydrogen by 2030, with further ambition to produce 10mmtpa towards development of export markets.
The Indian government followed this with a supply-side incentive program, Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT), under the NHGM, in June 2023 with an outlay of Rs174.9 billion (US$2,098.8 million). The SIGHT program had two distinct financial incentive mechanisms to support the domestic manufacturing of electrolysers and the production of green hydrogen.

The journey so far

Supply Chain Challenges

Infrastructure Gaps

There is a lack of dedicated infrastructure.

Technological Barriers

Advanced technologies for efficient hydrogen production and Distribution

Navigating the complex regulatory landscape and ensuring compliance can be challenging.

Regulatory Hurdles
Market Demand

Creating a stable market demand for green hydrogen is essential.

Supply Chain Integration

Integrating green hydrogen into existing supply chains requires investment and coordination

High Production Costs

Green hydrogen production is expensive.

India faces a significant knowledge gap in handling and logistics for green hydrogen, impacting its effective deployment.

The complexities of production, storage, and transportation, especially maintaining cryogenic temperatures and ensuring safety, are not fully understood or developed. Limited expertise in logistics and insufficient infrastructure further complicate the situation.

How can we help

Enhancing Safety Protocols

Implementing robust safety measures to handle hydrogen's volatility and prevent accidents, based on their deep understanding of cryogenic logistics.

Optimizing Cryogenic Handling
